The pension records of almost one million soldiers
who fought in World War One are now available online as Ancestry.co.uk
completes its British Army World War One Pension Records collection to
coincide with the 90th anniversary of the historic Passchendaele
campaign.
The collection spans the years from 1914 to 1920 and
lists the names of servicemen discharged due to injuries or illness
sustained during service. The originals are held at The National
Archives.

Convict Collection, HO 10 and HO 11
The upcoming convict collection from TNA includes the HO 10 and HO 11
record sets. Whilst the HO 11 refers to convict transportation only, the
HO 10 includes Lists, Musters, Pardons and the 1828 Census.
With roughly one in five Australians having a convict ancestor this
collection should be big news, not only within the genealogical
community, but within the general population. Collectively the HO 10 and
HO 11 records will refer to every convict ever sent to Australia.
Approximately 165,000 convicts were sent to Australia between 1788
and 1868
One in six were women
49 percent of all male convicts were engaged in unskilled labor.
75 percent of male convicts and 71 percent of female convicts were
between 15 and 30 years old.
83 percent of male convicts were convicted of crimes against property
- basically theft - but only 2 percent for crimes against the person
-Murder and Assault mostly-
87 percent of female convicts were convicted of crimes against
property - basically theft.
39 percent of men and 35 percent of women convicts had no prior
convictions.
39 percent of men and 34 percent of women had only one prior
conviction

Meanwhile the HO 11 collection is made up of
four databases

Third Fleet
The Rest ,but, unlike the HO 10 collection, they do not contain a
complete list of all the convict ships that sailed to Australia.
